Is That Website A Good Match For You?
I fell in love with a German Shepherd puppy a few weeks ago. I came across him online as I was doing some work. I decided I would
look into it and might want to get a German Shepherd in a few months. Now I could have just gone full steam head, but I knew I better
think it over. I found info on the German Shepherd. What his temperament was and what he liked etc.
Unfortunately my fears of how active he would be were well founded. He is not likely to enjoy watching me work on the internet and
then go for a walk later. He is my opposite at this point in life. He likes to be extremely active which means jogging or hiking several
times a week. The walk won’t cut it. And on top of that he likes to work. As in that word that is horrid to me. The German Shepherd
enjoys having a JOB! Yuck is he crazy? Which means he would like to be trained as a companion dog, rescue dog or similar. Which
are all noble. However then I’d have to take him to his job several times a week.
Anyway as my Godson said to me regarding the dog. “Well you can just cut out that idea because there is no way that is going to
work!”
Now what in the world does my dog story have to do with your website? A lot actually. Before you set up a website there are some
things to consider.
I talked with a gentleman at a seminar recently. He had a great website a few years back. It was his first and he really enjoyed it. It was
a shopping rebate site. Where he got money everytime someone bought thru his site. The site did well and he was making good money from it. Yet he ended up selling or shutting the site down after awhile. Despite the fact he was making some good money and enjoyed the site! Why you ask did he shut it down? Because of the work involved to maintain it. He got to the point where he hated doing the updates. Which for a site like that would have been daily. The money wasn’t worth it to him.
That’s what you need to think about first. How much care is the site going to take. Just like the German Shepherd the site is going to take some time to run. How much depends on the type of site you choose to build. We often don’t think of these things when building websites. We fail to invision the long term issues.
I have one site that is a pain in the a%% to keep updated. I know I need to work on it only so I can sell it. I would have to hire a person to keep up with it daily.
So maybe your one page salesletter site is not as exciting as running an Amazon. But if it makes you money and you can sit it and forget it then it works!
You are also free to build the next salesletter site and ad to your revenue. Or you can spend all your time updating your Amazon site and forget about the revenue increase. Only you know what you want. The choice is up to you in the end.
